Hoping to avoid a summer-long bloodbath for the Democratic presidential nomination, some party leaders such as Tennessee Gov. Phil Bredesen have urged a convention of superdelegates in June, after the caucuses and primaries are over.

The idea sounds exotic, but recent public declarations and Politico interviews with top Democratic officials have made clear that something like what Bredesen proposed is already underway — not with a big meeting but with an intensifying series of exchanges among party elites.

The early voting in this virtual convention is bad news for Hillary Rodham Clinton. Her hope that Democratic leaders will settle the nomination is starting to come true — with Barack Obama so far emerging as the beneficiary.

We will elect delegates to the Pre Primary convention March 15th.
Santa Fe Community College 6401 Richards Ave. Jemez Room (next to cafeteria)
It will be:
8:30=9:30 Registrations
9:30-10:00 Review rules and procedures
10:00-11:30 WARD VOTING
1:00-2:00 Credentials committee, Rules and Platform Committee meeting
2:00-3:30 County Central Committee meeting to receive Committee reports and certify delegates.

Governor 'frustrated' with Democratic Party chairman over caucus

ALBUQUERQUE (AP) - Governor Richardson says he's frustrated with state Democratic Party Chairman Brian Colon after reports of long lines and other problems at polling sites in the state party's presidential caucus.

It was Richardson who in 2003 originally conceived of holding an early caucus in New Mexico, and the state's first one was in 2004.

Today, the governor raised the possibility that state Democrats should rethink whether to keep the early nominating contest four years from now.

Richardson said he was deeply disturbed by reports of long lines at polling places and other problems. Some polling sites ran out of ballots and had to rush to make copies.

He says he expressed his frustration to Colon.

Earlier today, Colon took full responsibility for problems and apologized for miscalculating.
